slammeddamned1-150x150We love Slammed & Damned!  Updates on life in Cannes 2010 are forthcoming (this place so ROCKS!), but in the meantime, nothing makes this filmmaker happier than a reviewer who really sees the films we have attempted to make.  Thanks to Theron Neel who’s just written one of the nicest pieces on our work I’ve ever read.   Read his insightful, critical and socio-cultural perspective of Teenage Bikini Vampire up through Death in Charge HERE.  You rock, Theron!

In other fun news, Death in Charge just got into festival 86 and we can soon share some exciting news about its new life, and I Spit on Eli will be screened at the super cool Tri-City Independent Fan Film Festival in Seattle.

imagesThanks to friend Todd Livingston for recommending Roger Eberts Notebook on Cannes.  I can’t imagine a better way to prepare for the adventure ahead.  Thanks, too, to Henry Jaglom for his wonderful film Festival in Cannes which set the perfect mood before bed last night.  I’m now back at the Delta VIP lounge at the Detroit Airport, where I first wrote the treatment for trippin, where I’ve begun and completed so many adventures over the past 6 years, where I’ve grown up in some ways.  peggySo many fond memories in this wonderful place!  If it should come up before I remember to write my living will, I think I’d like some of my ashes scattered here when I pass, perhaps at the tequila bar or the flickering light tunnel (also Peggy Guggenheims home in Venice, West Village in NYC and Cordova, Spain, but I digress…) Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t Let THEM Profit from Crappy Films – A Cinematic Call to Action

nightmare refund smSo 20 minutes into the New Nightmare on Elm St. remake, my friends and I walked out and got our money back.  You know you can do that at most theaters, right?   I reserve this action for films that are simply unworthy of my time and money and I wish more people would follow suit.  This sends a message loud and clear – “Yes, your fancy marketing campaign worked and lured me in to the theater.   Yes, I was willing to lay down my dough in good faith that you were going to entertain me.  And yes, you clearly failed to keep up your end of the bargain and I was forced to flee because life is too short to waste on such mind-numbingly boring nothingness.” Read the rest of this entry »
