OpenyourEyesSo I’m off to the BendFilm Fest in Oregon at 4am.  Fun times.  Death’s actually screening at fests in  Memphis and New Orleans this weekend as well, both of which I’d chew off my left foot to attend only I don’t see how that would really help.  Besides, Bend has offered to put me up for free and it’s supposed to be a really great fest.  Plus, I’ve never been there, so I suppose it’s only right to try someplace new.  My fabulous AFI sister Susan Cohen will be there to share the adventure as her amazing short Open your Eyes will also screen.

george'sinterventionThis will be my 5th consecutive week at a film fest and, not that I’m complaining, but I’ve gotta admit I’m feeling a bit wiped.  I come back Monday afternoon in time to unpack, do laundry, repack, have a conference call with a super cool distributor that’s pitched some very appealing ideas, then hop a Supershuttle at 4am en route to England for the Bram Stoker Fest .  That looks effing awesome!  Fest friend JT’s George’s Intervention’s screening there as well and another fest friend from the U.K, Richard Purves (whose sci-fi short Mayfly totally rocks) will pop by to visit, too.  Yay!

whitbyThe fest is to take place in a small seaside town called Whitby which sounds straight out of a Lovecraft story.  Those who’ve been light up by the sheer mention of it.  All sorts of delightfully morbid literary figures seem to have sprouted there (including the Brontes – sweet!)wuthering-heights-olivier-and-oberon

I wonder if I’ll spot Heathcliff on the moors…sigh.

I’m actually giving a talk at the fest which I’ve yet to write.  Hopefully on the plane en route to Bend (though I just found out I was bumped up to first class, so I might just have to indulge in wine spritzers and basking in the luxury instead.)

dark-room-theater-posterWe get back from England in time to unpack, do laundry, repack and hit the road for Philly where we’re screening at the Firstglance Fest.  Never been to Philly  – I’m excited.   My new buddy Benjamin Pollack’s Dark Room Theater is screening there as well.  How fun to run into friends all over the planet!

louises.pngMan, it’s a good thing I got fired from my last job  (Louise’s sucks!) for taking too much time off to attend fests or I’d be fired for taking too much time off for attending fests.

Somewhere amid all this chaos  I hope to finish up trippin’s trailers/teasers to upload on the site once and for all (I cut them pre-color correction, so I have to replace the old footage with the new improved stuff).  I’m nearly done with the behind-the-scenes footage as well.  And then there’s this new script I’m writing.  If only there were a few more hours in the day.  But, alas, there are not, so better stop blogging and start packing…
