Send Lawyers, Guns and Money – Cannes 2010 Day 4…

j and devi smJust kidding, we’ve yet to engage in any international scandals just yet, though we’ve been out and about pretty much non-stop since Friday.  We spent the day at the Marche where Agustin landed us a number more meetings and invites for the coming days.  Then we wandered along the beach with J and Nat and had world’s tastiest baguette sandwich and table wine at this outdoor café on an alley corner where I ran into U.K. friends Tess and Cassandra of Jeva Films who are off to exciting producing adventures (and our mutual quest to live the glamorous life.)

girls smSeveral glasses of wine later, Producer Guy from last blog passed by and we chatted briefly.  He had caught but one film thus far – Cleveland Vs. Wall Street (his account makes it sound best reserved for a Netflix evening frankly) and he feared endless business meetings would prevent his seeing any more movies during his stay.  I actually felt a little bad for him – I mean, I suppose it’s awesome to be in his position and have people clamoring to make your movies, but it seems a shame to be in this wonderful place and not get to enjoy most of its key perks.

star sighting smEarly evening, we caught Richard Dailey’s nutty fun rockumentary The Stoneking Project (imagine Anvil meets MTV’s  Real World in Paris) at the Cannes Independent Fest which continues to be an absolute blast.   After, we experienced some Cannes nightlife at the overpopulated Petite Majestic sipping table wine from Dixie cups and marveling at the dapper, the drunk, the desperate and the damned as they all co-mingled.  me nat ra at majestic petite smAgustin spotted Milla Jovavich, then promptly got fallen upon by a wasted Frenchman in a tux who tipped over backwards in his chair then made his dramatic exit and lit a cigarette with nary an excusez-mois.  Man, there are lots of bad tuxes here I’m surprised to note.  In fact, I’ve been most under-whelmed by fashion here in general.

af at pm smIt was another late night and I didn’t roll out of bed until 11am Saturday (our windows have this awesome electric switch which causes the window to cover itself with a blackening shade from within – I SO want one of these back home) which was to be one of our best days yet thanks to a very special screening, but more on that next blog.  I have but an hour before we head out for a series of meetings and parties and there’s much work to do.  The team back home’s been working hard on Dolores with exciting progress and I need to do my part.  Thanks, Team!
