December 19th, 2009 by Devi Snively (The Directrix)

_MG_9818DSC02243Death in Charge is seriously getting around.  It’s now screened at 76 festivals, garnered 15 awards and numerous nominations and it continues to travel the world.  While I was off with it in Alaska, it was also screening at Cambofest in Cambodia – here are some stills – how cool is that?  Go, Death! Congrats to the entire team!

overhead gang smI got back from Alaska yesterday and actually found L.A. a bit nippy – how weird is that?  I don’t know if this is common, but I always feel a little sad after a particularly great fest experience.  For 11 days I had a new home, family and lifestyle. afterpartyagain smbundled devi view smimagesI’m feeling a bit delirious (perhaps it’s due in part to the bijillion layers of clothes that make me resemble the Michelin Man – how funny is that image left?).  At least it’s a good delirium.  The fest continues to delight with cinema, spirits and sobremesa ’til all hours and after Tuesday’s after-party I came home to discover that TRIPPIN’s already been accepted to its first fest – yay!  Read the rest of this entry »

Birthdays and Rebirth in Alaska

December 8th, 2009 by Devi Snively (The Directrix)

tony nat j paul smsunset over dennys smOne of my favorite things about festivals is you never know what to expect.  Sure, there will be movies to see, parties to attend and so forth.  But every experience is so distinct, each fest has its own unique personality.  Don, one of the fest coordinators, and I are convinced it’s like summer sleepaway camp for adults.  Read the rest of this entry »
