“Armaghetto Teapot”

arma-ghetto teapot 2So, I destroyed my teapot a couple months back.  I put some water on and spaced it until all the water was gone and the teapot got all burnt up.  Since then, I’ve been boiling water for my morning coffee in this saucepan we have.  Anyhoo, I was boiling some water when Kenny walks in and shakes his head.

sora_teapot“Shameful,” he declared.

“What?”  I asked.

“We need to get you a real teapot already.  This is pathetic.”

“I can’t afford one,” I responded.

For some reason this elicited a simultaneous burst of laughter from us both. Shortly thereafter I coined a new term to describe our barely furnished, “minimalist” apartment “armaghetto chic.”

3504876641_ed9cc24624_mIt’s not easy being a struggling artist in this day and age.  But somehow there’s a certain satisfaction in it.  There’s something almost liberating about being too broke to care about anything but focusing on one’s artistic goals.

So, I’ve decided that I don’t want no stinkin’ teapot.  Not yet anyway.  When I get my first check (or sign my first real contract) for a script or a movie or some accomplishment I deem worthy, I intend to go out and buy the fanciest, most super awesome teapot you ever did see (does Tiffany’s make teapots I wonder? OMG, they do!)  But first I need to earn it.

steampunk-teapot_01_rlUIU_17621Until that time I will know that every time I make tea, coffee, cocoa or any other beverage that requires boiling water, that this is all part of the journey, that I need to stay focused on my priorities, eyes on the prize – a shiny new teapot.
