A small, but heavy box arrived yesterday. It came from Wisconsin (gee, that’d be a good movie title!). I love surprises, but for some reason I had a strange feeling about this one. A bomb? A body part? A murderous Jack-in-the-Box? I opened it with anticipation. Inside the cardboard box was another box — this one upholstered in cloth with a drawer that slid out. Inside that, a trophy! Apparently, TRIPPIN’ won Best Horror Comedy at the Whitewater Film Fest this past fall. Congrats, Team! Congrats also to buddy Elias Matar whose brilliant film ASHES won best feature! Yay! What a nice way to end our fest run. Thanks, Wisconsin!
Just like Sheila E., Devi wants to live the glamorous life. She’s not quite there yet. In the meantime, here’s where she’s at…
TRIPPIN’ Wins Best Horror Comedy!

Thanks to Rabid Dog Press and Wicked Channel for their enthusiastic reviews of TRIPPIN’ and the compilation DVD (coming out soon!). My Sundance report will have to wait until next week as I’m steeped in production, writing deadlines AND finals for my last semester at the Academy for a spell (sad, but necessary with all the projects and upcoming travels, alas. Professor Snively will return before too long, I hope.) Suffice to say for now, the Sundance adventure was a fairy tale trip with some fun reality thrown in to keep the momentum going. More soon…or later. It’s hard to tell these days. Thanks for your patience!

Hope for Hollywood – A 2011 Movie Recap
December 4th, 2011 by Devi Snively (The Directrix)
So, after putting a moratorium on Hollywood films earlier this year (in protest to all the soulless, unoriginal garbage I kept subjecting myself to), I finally ventured back to the Arclight to give her another chance. I’m so glad I did! THE ARTIST is a wonderfully successful black and white, silent film in this day and age. That unto itself is a remarkable feat. Read the rest of this entry »
