Wow, quite a week! We learned that while Death in Charge screens at the Rincon Festival in Puerto Rico, I Spit on Eli Roth will screen at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival (I’m devastated we can’t afford to attend either.) We also learned that trippin’ will be screening at both the Riverbend Film Festival and the Chicago Horror Society Film Festival on May 1st. Yay! Then I got word that trippin’s been officially selected to the Cannes Independent Film Festival! What’s more, we’re to be put up in this amazing villa right off the Croisette with the programmers and other filmmakers (and a pool – sweet!) for 2 whole weeks! Usually on Easter, Agustin and I cook a rabbit and watch zombie films – just seems fitting somehow. After all, Jesus was like the ultimate re-animated dude and the bunny, well that should be self-explanatory.
Alas, A’s on the other side of the country and I’m steeped in work up to my eyeballs , so no rabbit/zombie soup for me.

My dear director friend J texted me from Australia in a mad frenzy. He was on a bus en route to Melbourne and being “forced to watch Four Holidays.” He wrote:
Oh dear, Devi, it’s one of the worst movies ever made. And yet it’s filled with great actors. What the hell? Why? How? This is why we have to make (title of project we’re collaborating on). We just have to. There is a moral imperative involved. We have to rescue cinema. First off, congrats to the team! Yes, both of our films were well-received. I’ll elaborate momentarily. But first, Other Filmmakers, I hereby proclaim you should all submit your film to next year’s Gasparilla International Film Festival, and by all means attend. You will thank me.
