I think it’s probably my life’s quest to find some way to “balance the absurd with the smart,” so imagine my joy when Brutal as Hell’s Keri O’Shea wrote a fabulous review of the Bram Stoker fest films in which she concludes that trippin’ does just that.  Now if I can just apply this new found skill to my personal life, I’ll be jammin’!  Check out the full review HERE.  And I SWEAR I’ll document my own full account of the wondrous event soon.  Halloween (and AFM season) is a rather busy time of year for this horror gal and I simply haven’t had a moment to breathe much less blog is all.  I shall reanimate soon, really I will…

Congrats, Team!  Death in Charge has won both the audience and jury awards for best film and Marina Benedict received the best performance award at the Knoxville Horror Film Festival – Sweet!  Fest buddy Dave Reda won the “funniest film” for his awesome music video “The Horror of Our Love.” 

Death’s screening at 2 fests this weekend – Carnival of Darkness and the Tabloid Witch Awards – hope to see some of you there (cast/crew – let me know if you need passes) Also, trippin’ got a nice nod from Significant Kinks after its Whitby screening.

Speaking of which, I’m still catching up with life back in the States (it’s a new semester and I’m teaching 2 classes plus prepping for the AFM and tackling a writing deadline on top of the usual madness), but a full blog account on The Bram Stoker Film Festival is still to come.  In the meantime – HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Words can’t describe the wonderfulness of returning to the Bram Stoker Int’l Film Fest (at least not in my current jet-lagged state – I shall make a proper attempt with loads of photos in the coming days.)  I can’t thank the wonderful programmers, participants and people of Whitby enough for another experience of a lifetime.  And to top it all off, trippin’ won Best Screenplay!  My dear friends Lis and Brenda Fies won Best International Feature!   (and fest buddy Kody Zimmerman won best short film – congrats!)  It was a truly magical time.  Alas, however, the new semester begins tomorrow and I have classes to prep now, but a full detailed account is forthcoming, I swear…

Congrats, Team!  trippin’ is to screen in a most wonderful place.  The very Lovecraftesque small British fishing town of Whitby where the fabulous Bram Stoker Fest happens!  I am very pleased about this one as I went last year and had a blast.  The festival is well run with great projection, a beautiful venue, super cool people, an outrageous opening night party with eye candy galore, and a wonderful mix of very eclectic horror films ranging from innovative micro-budgets to slick Asian horror films not yet released in the U.S. (like The Fox Family – keep an eye out for it).  We even participated in the first Vampire Walk up to the famous old Abbey which was the true inspiration for Dracula’s castle (okay, so  it was during the day, but fortunately nobody sparkled.)  It’s truly like entering a dark fairy tale.  Oh, and the fish and chips – wow!
