CHEAP SCARES! LOW BUDGET HORROR FILMMAKERS SHARE THEIR SECRETS

"Wanna tour the festival circuit, get accepted into American Film Institute's prestigious Director's Workshop for Women, teach a horror themed college class called The Culture of Fear and engage the voices in your head in conversation? Chase after writer/director Devi Snively." [read this review]

With film titles such as Teenage Bikini Vampire and Confederate Zombie Massacre!  it’s no wonder writer/directrix Devi Snively’s signature “romantic musical horror comedy” genre has been likened to everything from the silent classics of Buster Keaton to EC Comics to Tim Burton and beyond.  With Death In Charge she continues to explore themes of life and death with playful irony.

Devi (pronounced DAY-vee) was selected as one of 8 participants to the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop For Women (DWW) in 2007.

The DWW has been a major force in training women in narrative filmmaking since 1974.   Some DWW alumnae include Lesli Linka Glatter(THE WEST WING, GREY'S ANATOMY, THE CLOSER); Randa Haines (CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD, DANCE WITH ME); , Randa Haines (CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD, DANCE WITH ME); Victoria Hochberg (SEX AND THE CITY, GHOST WHISPERER); and Tricia Brock (THE L WORD, GREY'S ANATOMY, UGLY BETTY) to name just a few. AFI's Directing Workshop for Women focuses on the development and production of a short narrative project. Participants enter the program with a short screenplay, which they develop for three weeks within the Jessica Kaplan Screenwriting Series at the Directing Workshop for Women.
